Spitzkoppe is a group of bald granite inselbergs located in the Namib Desert, roughly 120 kilometers northeast of Swakopmund. These rock formations are estimated to be more than 700 million years old, making them among the oldest visible landscapes on Earth.
The highest peak reaches nearly 1,800 meters above sea level, towering over the surrounding desert and creating an almost surreal contrast between jagged stone and endless open space.

Camping at Spitzkoppe
Camping is the most popular way to experience Spitzkoppe—and for good reason. The campsite is rustic and beautifully located, with individual sites spread far apart for privacy.
Each campsite typically offers:
• A basic ablution block (toilets and showers)
• A braai (barbecue) area
• Plenty of space and solitude
There is no electricity and very limited facilities, so visitors need to be fully self-sufficient. Camping here means falling asleep under the stars and waking up to the soft glow of the desert sun on granite rock.
How to Get to Spitzkoppe
Spitzkoppe is most easily reached by car.
• From Swakopmund, the drive takes about 2–2.5 hours
• A 4×4 vehicle is recommended, especially for reaching the campsite
• Roads are mostly gravel, so driving carefully is essential
